This group focuses on teaching the fundamental skills of all four competitive strokes, as well as learning technique through stroke drills, turn drills, start drills and games. A huge emphasis is put on learning while having fun. Basic dryland exercises are also introduced to increase coordination, balance, and basic core strength.  All swimmers are USA Swimming registered athletes.  Participation in swim meets is required.

***Parents must attend the 8 & Under Parent Meeting at the beginning of every season. 

8 and Under offers 3 practices per week: 3X75 minutes practices. 2 practices per week include 15 minutes of dryland training and conditioning prior to the pool time and 1 practice a week includes 15 minutes of Mental Fitness prior to pool time. Swimmers range in age from 6-8 years old and are required to attend 2-3 practices per week.

The basic requirements for swimmers on 8 & U are:

Swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke without stopping.  

Demonstrates proper body position while swimming freestyle and backstroke. 

Can do 25 yards of dolphin kick.

Can do 25 yards of breaststroke kick.

Shows basic initial breaststroke technique.  

Demonstrates an ability to listen and follow directions from the coach.

Shows an interest and excitement for swimming.
